Card backs aren’t customizable. Every back supports a local business or community supporter who helps keep Neighborhood Watch going.

How They’re Made

It starts with a real photo. We build the character from a photo of your athlete, using a mix of AI and graphic design tools. The likeness won’t be an exact match, and it isn’t meant to be — it’s your athlete as a character.

You approve it before you pay. We’ll show you the character and keep working until you’re happy with it. Only then do we start building the card.

Then we build it by hand. Every card is printed, cut, and assembled by hand, one at a time — so the finished card looks and feels like a real sports card, not a printout.

Then the corners come off. Anybody who’s ever collected knows a dinged corner can ruin the whole look of a card. So every card gets its corners rounded with an R5 or R10 corner rounder before it’s sleeved. Problem solved.

Collector Series

Not custom — these are ours. Original Nothin’ Fancy designs, printed in limited quantities, for people who just like cards.

Everything above starts with your athlete. The Collector Series doesn’t. These are designs we make ourselves — the city, the teams, the moments and inside jokes that anybody from around here would recognize — printed in small runs and gone when they’re gone.

Every one of these funds the mission. Proceeds go straight into custom cards for athletes and Neighborhood Watch recognitions for the coaches, team moms, volunteers, and community members who earn them. Buying one is buying a card. It also pays for somebody else’s.

Why We Started

Coach Den

Nothin’ Fancy exists because of Coach Den, a coach who spent more than 20 years at Liberty Bell Youth Organization in Northeast Philadelphia. He wasn’t in it for the trophies. He was in it for the kid who needed someone in his corner, and he made sure every one of them knew somebody had their back — on the field and long after they left it.

As a coach, he built meaningful relationships and instilled lifelong values in hundreds of kids in the neighborhood — and I was fortunate enough to see the impact that had on those kids, and to receive it myself, because he was also my dad and will always be my hero.

My kids and I probably aren’t going to create gem mint cards at our kitchen table — we’ll try our best — but it’s not the main goal of what Nothin’ Fancy is trying to accomplish. Our main goal is that every card we make is a way of doing what he did: showing somebody they matter.

Founding Sponsors — 10 Slots

10 card backs. That’s the whole first run.

Your card back goes in every pack we sell — every order, from day one. Not just when a nomination comes in.

The first 10 Founding Sponsors are each tied to one of our first 10 Local Legend or Hometown Hero recognitions. Support isn’t locked to a single team or league — it covers your whole area: Lower Bucks County or Northeast Philadelphia.

Once these 10 are filled, we start working with individual organizations on card backs of their own. Founding Sponsors keep the title permanently and get first say in where they land.

What the Card Backs Are For

  • Every card front is your athlete. The backs belong to the businesses and community members who keep this going — so every pack a family orders puts those names in their hands.
  • In a 6-card pack: one back is Nothin’ Fancy, and five are Founding Sponsors 1 through 5.
  • In a 12-card pack: one back is Nothin’ Fancy, one is the Mission Supporters card, and 10 are all 10 Founding Sponsors.
  • Any slot that hasn’t been claimed carries the Nothin’ Fancy logo instead. Slots are never resold or doubled up.
  • Card backs are never sold to the family ordering the cards. They’re how the recognitions get paid for.

All supporters are subject to approval. These cards go home with families and are handed out through schools and youth sports organizations, so we work only with businesses and community members whose values line up with youth sports. Nothin’ Fancy reserves the right to decline any support or artwork, and to return a payment if we’re not the right fit.

Recognition recipients are selected independently through nomination and review. Support helps make recognition possible but does not influence recipient selection.

Sponsors and Partners get their logo linked here, and this is the address your QR code will point to.

Yes, you may list me publicly on the Nothin’ Fancy website and social media.
I’d prefer to stay anonymous — please don’t list my name anywhere. (Your support still counts the same.)

If your team, league, or school gave you a code, enter it here. It tells us which organization your order supports — and puts their local sponsors on the backs of your cards. No code? No problem, your order still works.

List them in order of importance — the first color leads the design. Rookie cards are built entirely around these; on Future Star and Franchise Player cards they shape the palette the scene gets built in.

Clear, forward-facing photos give us the most to work with — the better we can see their face, the better the character comes out. A photo in uniform is a nice bonus if you have one, but it’s not required.
